  • State Representative for Arizona and an Emergency Physician

Speaker: Health Policy at the Arizona House of Representatives

Growing up in Chicago, Amish had a pretty rough childhood. He was bullied, and there were times he would go to his room and pray that God would just take his life, because there seemed to be no safe place for him. But somewhere around 6th grade, the unexpected happened. Two teachers, Mrs. Weber and Ms. Meres, took an interest in Amish, not just as a good student, but as a good person. They saw he needed support, and gave him kindness, generosity and encouragement.

Eventually, Amish paid his own way through medical school, allowing him to build an independent and fulfilling career as an ER doctor. He became a faculty member, educator, researcher, and even worked with the NFL. You see, this story would be unlikely in other places like India where Amish's parents grew up. But Amish was born in America, and the American people cared for him and invested in him.

Amish wanted to serve his community, so he ran for Arizona State House and knocked on 15,000 doors to meet his constituents personally. He won all three of his elections in resounding fashion, and during his time, he has had more bills signed into law than any other member of his party in over a decade.

Amish knows how our kids need our full support and encouragement to reach their potential, especially in Arizona where they have an underfunded and broken system. So he will strive to ensure every kid gets a real shot like he did. Amish will demand that teachers get paid well and treated with respect. And he will push for quality, affordable healthcare for everyone so we don't have to choose between our medicine and our rent. Join him, and let's get it done.
